1. Eimear McBride, an Irish author, won the Bailey’s Women Prize for Fiction for the year 2014. She got the prize for her novel “A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing”. The Bailey’s Prize was founded in 1996 as “Orange Prize for fiction”. The same award carries cash prize of 30, 000 pound.
2. In a bid to address the grievances of the Army veterans the Indian Army has launch a web based portal as “the Army Veterans Grievances Handling” (AVGH) portal. The web based portal can be accessed by login at WWW.IndianArmyVeterans.gov.in Under the portal army veteran will be given a user Id and a password to assess the service. The web portal was developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
