1. State Bank of India launches six digital branches named sbi-INTOUCH across the country as a part of its programme to offer next generation high-tech banking. These outlets are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata (soon).

    These branches will have digital banking capabilities, which include instant account opening with personalized debit cards, instant loan approvals for education, car and home and remote expert advisors available via video links.
    The new branches are equipped with interactive wall and table displays and multi-function kiosks.

2. New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent has been banned for life by the ECB for his self-confessed involvement in match-fixing in county cricket.

3. United States names a mountain in Antarctica as Mount Sinha in the honour of eminent Indian-American scientist ‘Akhouri Sinha’. US Geological Survey has conferred on him the recognition for his work to compile population studies of seals, whales and birds in the pack ice as an explorer of the US Coast Guard in 1971-72.

4. Indian Oil Corporation has given AMK Sinha, the company’s Director for planning and business development, additional charge of the post of Chairman of the company from July 2.

5. Indian shooter Jitu Rai, riding high on three medals won in the recent ISSF World Cups in Munich and Slovenia, romps to world number one ranking in air pistol event. The 27-year-old army man is the seventh Indian shooter after Anjali Bhagwat, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Gagan Narang, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Ronjon Sodhi and Heena Sidhu to have claimed the top slot in their respective events.

6. Ladakh International Film Festival 2014. Ram Ramesh Sharma Directorial ‘Kaafiron Ki Namaaz’ (The Virgin Arguments) emerges as the most successful film with 4 awards at the 3rd Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) 2014. Iranian film ‘Wet Letters’ ended up with three awards at this highest-altitude international film festival worldwide.
