1. India becomes the first country in the world to ratify the pro-blinds Marrakesh Treaty. The agreement facilitates access to published works for persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled.

2. Sujit Choudhry becomes the first Indian-American Dean of the Berkeley Law School, University of California. He gets a five-year term beginning July 2014 as the 12th dean of the world-famous Law school.

5. Trial run of nation’s fastest train between Delhi and Agra is conducted by the Indian Railways. The train, expected to clock maximum speed of 160 kmph, will reduce the travel time by half an hour to 90 minutes only (earlier 2 hours).
