1. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won the Chinese F1 Grand Prix held on 20th April. With this win, he won three races in a row for the first time in his career. His Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso secured second and third place in the race. Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg finished at sixth.

2. Stanislas Wawrinka defeated Roger Federer by 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 to win the Monte Carlo Masters Tennis Men’s singles title. America’s top seeded Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, won the Doubles after defeating third seeded Croatian-Brazilian team of Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo by 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.

3. Justice G Rohini has taken over as the first woman Chief Justice of Delhi High Court after she was administered the oath of office by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in New Delhi today. Before that, Justice Rohini was the senior most judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. With her joining, the strength of women judges at the Delhi High Court has increased to 10.

4. The Central Government has appointed columnist and RBI Chair Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Ila Patnaik, as Principal Economic Advisor. The post had been vacant since November 2013.

5. BCCI has suggested to the Supreme Court to set up a three-member committee in order to probe the corruption case on the directives of the Supreme Court after its working committee meeting held in Mumbai today. The Working Committee of the Board decided to suggest names of former India all-rounder Ravi Shastri, former Calcutta High Court Chief Justice J N Patel and ex-CBI Director R K Raghavan as members of the probe committee.

6. Narendra Kothari, Chief Executive Officer of IISCO steel plant, Burnpur, under the Steel Authority of India Ltd, took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) today. Before he took over as the CEO of IISCO plant in October 2012, he was the executive director of chairman secretariat, coal import group, SAIL.

7. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive director G. Gopalakrishna took charge as director of Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL). CAFRAL is a not-for-profit organization and is an independent body fully funded by the RBI.

8. Hockey India appointed former senior coach Harendra Singh as the coach of the junior men’s team. His key aim will be to groom the junior team for the 2016 World Cup to be held in the country. He will join the training camp of the team on April 25.
