5. Micromax, India’s 2nd largest handset maker, appoints Vineet Taneja as its new Chief Executive Officer. Taneja, prior to it, was the Country Head for IT & Mobile businesses of Samsung India.

6. Kathleen Stephens to be the new interim US Ambassador to India to fill in for previous ambassador Nancy Powell. He will serve as such until the appointment of a new permanent ambassador to India.

6. The 21st annual joint naval exercise, SIMBEX 14, between Indian and Singapore Navies is underway in Andaman Sea. The week long drill is in operation from May 22-28.

Tamil Nadu government suspended her hours after her sworn-in for not following rules before joining the central probe agency.

6. Indian discus thrower Vikas Gowda wins the silver medal in the IAAF Diamond League Series in Doha. Poland’s Piotr Malachowski grabs the gold medal with a throw of 66.72 metres while the bronze medal went to Estonia’s Gerd Kanter. Vikas had won the bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou as well as silver in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
